How much wood will you get? See table below
Remember that certain woods such as the hickories, pecan and walnut cannot be cut to 1 inch or less when green. (Radial growth rings will curl, cusp and twist.)

How to Grade Your Lumber

Drying Your Lumber

Board foot calculation

Before we come, you need to

Logs must be in a position that we can pull up next to them, with the ends pretty much in line, short logs centered in the pile, so as to permit continuous loading of the logs. All limbs must be cut off clean to the log. Logs with curves will cause problems. Cut logs into lengths that will make it easy to move and stack. If you will be using the wood for building around your home, cut your log(s) into lengths for your projects. Don't keep logs 14 feet if you are not going to use wood this long.

Remember jobs like cutting burls, or very dry seasoned lumber, or for quarter sawing, or working with small logs under 10-inch diameter will take longer to mill.

If you don't have anyone to help you move the lumber the operator will have to stop the mill and help you after each cut. This will add to the milling time so it's best to have your own help.
